maximum file size
Why is it that just two weeks ago my Premier Pro captured one hour and seven minutes of footage, a file size of almost 14G, and now it will not create a capture file bigger than 4.2Gm 18.04 minutes in length?

Are you now working on a new harddrive, say FAT 32 formatted?

Yes. Western Digital 500G external hard drive, fire wire connection.

Mike, you missed what Vincent was asking. Window”s File System FAT32 wont support files larger than 4 GB. You need to reformat the drive as NTSF.
1. Clean it off
2. In Windows Explorer, right click on the drive’s icon and choose Format.
3. Choose NTSF as the File system and Quick Format.
4. Press Start -
The dialog box for “Format” will not let me do that. For “File System” it gives “NTFS” and does not allow a change.

Well, so will it allow you to format to NTFS. NTFS is what you need. Just hit format and that should take care of things.
Again, make sure you have nothing you want to keep on the drive.

“Reformat” done. I don’t have any footage to capture at the moment. Next shoot is on Jan 4th. I will let you know how this turns out. Thanks again.
