You mentioned you were transcoding to Avid DNxHD 36 in the avid? This would mean 270MB per minute for the rushes. Not the finished film. Hugely more space required. Unless you edit using AMA.

Whichever workflow you are going to use test it end to end.
It’s pretty easy to calculate how much space the DNxHD36 will take up: as it’s 36Mbit per second (4.5MB). So figure out how many seconds or minutes (270MB per minute) and you’ll have a rough estimate of the video.
Personally, I’d transcode the whole lot in Resolve Lite and edit from a different drive. You’ll want a good few hundred GB free for renders etc.

Everyone should follow this list from Michael. It’s the simplest set of instructions. I do this on a daily basis from a variety of formats from Resolve to Avid. Tape info is a pain to try and fix later down the post process.

Step through your track and see how well it is actually tracking off the points you are giving it. Without seeing its difficult to judge. I find avid’s tracker pretty good so keep tweaking it.

I don’t have an avid in front of me but after you have zoomed in you can move the viewable area by holding alt and crtl (I think) on a windows machine and dragging the window. You’ll know its the correct keys to hold down as the mouse cursor should turn to a hand.

Can I confirm with you..
1. You have an avid project at DNxHD 115
2. You have a logo that you are creating from other media in after effects which looks super sharp
3. You are exporting the logo from after effects in DNxHD 175
4. You are AMA linking this logo to your DNxHD 115 project
5. The logo looks OK within AVID?
6. You export the logo as a DNxHD 115 or a 175 sequence – and the logo looks bad.Michael Cheung

H264 in my opinion is not advisable. It’s a finishing codec which means it is quite heavily compressed and is a lossy codec and difficult to edit with. As your on windows pro res is out of the question. Maybe look at photo JPEG as an option. Won’t be any smaller though. Is this an offline edit?
