The footage is P2 and the sequence is IMX 30. I use this on my projects every week and dont have any issues. Not sure why he is having a problem. Our settings seem to look the same.

Thanks for your response. Our server is Omneon and they are the ones saying to use Mpeg2 or XD cam. They said Prores was not an option. Currently we are using IMX30 but they said that it is SD only. My company is looking to keep the same storage space when we switch over to HD and they are saying that MPEG2 would use the least amount of storage. I have been pushing them to use prores for years and they keep saying it wont keep the captioning if we have reedit something.

It was actually a DV-NTSC motion background (not Motion program) I changed the opacity to 50% and thats when I got the problem. I also have several other motion backgrounds in my project that are from the same CD as the one giving me problems and those other backgrounds did not have any issue rendering.

We were using Premeire Pro up until a year ago. We needed to save all the footage from that system to use in FCP. I have really not had problems using any avi in FCP but then again we havent used FCP for how it is supposed to be used. My render times have been the same on FCP as they were on Premeire which seems like this shouldnt happen in FCP. Unfortunately I am stuck with what I can do since the company really hasnt intergrated properly with FCP.

Shane,
You would not be happy if you saw how we are using the Macs where I work. We are using tapeless (P2) but also using DVCPRO as well. And all the old footage has been saved on externals and are in AVI format. So some files are huge and some are not. Due to how our control room is set up I have to export all my shows with IMX30 so I am not allowed to use ProRes plus we are still working in SD and not switching over to HD for another year or two. -

When I open that up and go to the sharing and permissions area it only shows “You can only read” No options. All I did was connect my three drives to the Mac. Two were via ubs and the other was firewire.
