you could use the AE “beam” effect to make a laser beam…or you could use the lightning effect to cast a bolt of lighting…these can be added to your video without much trouble…you would just have to shoot a video again of you throwing something….then add the effects. To throw a ball, you would have to shoot the ball by itself against a blue screen…then take out the background, and add just the ball to the scene. Another way is to take a digital pic of the ball and use Photoshop to select just the ball, then rotate the ball in AE, etc….the tricky part will be the lighting…
