Vince, If we went with a Macbook, would the retina Macbook also be a heavy load on the GPU?

Thanks! If we were to go with an iMac what kind of drive would serve us best?

Serial ATA hard drive or flash storage or Fusion Drive?

How much headroom does a RAID 5 need? I know that I already have less access to Gigs when I set it up this way, but for performance, do I need to give myself even less?

    Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the direct clarity! I’m looking at G-Drive RAIDs… Do you have a preference or recommendation?

We are working from 2 or 3 machines. The lesser of the bunch is a MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM with OS 10.7.5

Our media is stored on a few external hardrives, mostly G-Tech drives that are connected with firewire 800. Some are daisy-chained, others are plugged directly into the machine. (Actually, that would be the case for our more powerful tower. In the case of the macbook, all but one are daisy-chained.)

    Thanks.

Just to be clear, I don’t mean how long FCP will actually let a sequence be. Is 5 hours the limit for having a sequence that playback and edits with out causing a fuss to the system?

    Thanks!

I used the built in one, which worked fine for my purposes for every other set up but this one…
