  • Hi

    a couple things to try.

use a camera instead of an adjustment layer.
use a .ai file not a pdf
Make sure that continuously raster is on for each layer.

yes this is probably more likely than not done using flash. AE would work but would be considerably more difficult. There may be some rotoscoping done in after effects on this as well.

You need to create a CG model of the person. Forget about the footage you have it is not going to work for you as you desire it. You cannot make 2-D 3-D, or extruded your image and have a look decent using any kind of camera movement.

  • Hello,

I’m having the same problem, only with pro animator.

I did manage to work around it and this works more often than not.

While you are in the edit mode inside of Zaxwerks invigorator go to “save scene as” and save the seen as a native Zaxwerks file. If it crashes on you at least you’re not starting from square one again. If it does crash restart after effects. Clear out your AE files by going to: edit, preferences, general and then click the reveal preferences in Explorer button at the bottom of the window. Close after effects and then go to the window you just opened and delete all single files listed. Do not delete any folders. Restart after effects. Open a new project and then open a new zaxwerks project. Once inside the zaxwerks edit window open up your previously saved project file.

if you’re using Windows 7 I believe this may be related to a power saving issue within Windows itself. I noticed that when the hard drives are spinning/running I have less trouble with crashes. You may wish to check your power settings and set everything to run at full bore. In other words turn power saving mode off.

September 13, 2014 at 6:15 pm in reply to: walk cycle advice needed

Unfortunately AE is not the best animation program for something like this Flash does a much better job.
However if you do need to work in AE I recommend the following.

Create your walk cycle as you have already done. Do not try to move it across the screen yet.
Now drop your walk cycle comp into a new comp. This is where you will create the walk from one side to the other. Also remember that walking is not in a straight line. We all walk as a pendilum swings with high and low points. This new comp is where you will make those adjustments as well as moving your character across the screen. Also stretch and squash can help to give the illusion of an actual walk cycle by giving a little bounce to the character. Best with your project.

    Hello,
With out knowing exactly what you were doing to animate the letters it is hard to advise you as to a simpler way to achieve results. As far as I know there is no script that would help you in this matter. Perhaps an adaptation of the text animator would have suited. Or the usage of comps and a control layer may have also suited your purpose. A link to the project so we could see a sample of what you were trying to achieve could help shed some light on it.
