Yes, there is a depth of field plugin on the market, you can choose from: person detector (male/female)-face detector or simply foreground detector. It detects your focus point, and the area that is slightly out of focus by measuring the sharpness of the edges. The object that you choose to be in focus will stay in focus, while you can choose the focus or blur amount of the other part of the image. When you are done, the plugin renders the entire movement of the object/person in focus. This plugin is a must have for everyone who has no camera adapter.

Sorry the squeeze mode can be refered to as Anamorphic 16:9 while the letterbox
    is just a 16:9 aspect ratio 😉

The difference is in the output signal of the camera.
Both letter box and Squeeze are 16:9 but letterbox will make it possible for you to view the footage on a 4:3 monitor with black boxes, but Squeeze will output signal to a compatible widescreen monitor viewing the entire image in 16:9.
There is one thing which you have to keep in mind. The black bands will be recorded on tape, and FCP does not recognize them as 16:9 footage, so will input it in a normal 4:3 Clip. If however you try to inport footage shot in letterbox mode in a 16:9 sequence, you end up with double 16:9, a letterboxed image in a 16:9 ratio and that’s what you don’t want.
So in that case I would prefer shooting in Sqeeze mode while shooting in 16:9

    good luck
