Okay, I understand. Export from the timeline with QT with Conversion and pick ProRes 422. But, and this is important. You should not be color correcting XDCAM EX footage, it is Long GOP MPEG 2 video. You will get much better results if you CC in ProRes.

We have started calling the regular ProRes 422 “SQ” to differentiate it from ProRes HQ. But apple just calls it ProRes 422 (very confusing). You would think that if they named one version HQ, another LT and another Proxy, that they would call the regular version SQ (standard quality), but they don’t. So we have to make up our own names.

I tried to use compressor, however since I don’t hace a DVCPRO deck to print to video, they have to use Final Cut Pro timeline to import
whatever file I give them to print to video to a deck in the TV station.
I gave them both files a SD and a HD file. Each time they imported each file they had to render it.
So I guess the question remains, what file would mantain better resolucion upon rendering in a SD timeline? a SD file or a HD file

I would like to convert because I can be more efficient when I do
color correction. I followed Ken’s Stone FCP website, and that is
the work flow they recommended. What do you think?

Yes it is. Unfortunately this seems to be a problem of people posting content in exposure room and vimeo. I add myself to that group. One person suggested to change the saturation and brightness once exporting QT from FCP, however I am using compressor and in the filter section there are more options.
Do you think this is a good idea??

Are you making any brightness/saturation changes in compressor?? I know that many people including myself experience that the movie looses contrast and color once imported into vimeo. Do you have any words of wisdom about that??
