compressor: brightness and saturation adjustments
Posted by Maurice Salazar on November 20, 2009 at 6:57 pmI am having difficulty with the gamma shown in Exposure room and Vimeo of my pieces. What I have read is that they are web sites driven by windows system. What type of compression setting you guys would recommend in compressor so the movies does not look washed out.
Thanks

November 20, 2009 at 7:41 pmHi Dan
Yes it is. Unfortunately this seems to be a problem of people posting content in exposure room and vimeo. I add myself to that group. One person suggested to change the saturation and brightness once exporting QT from FCP, however I am using compressor and in the filter section there are more options.
Do you think this is a good idea??
Thanks

November 20, 2009 at 8:12 pmThere are some Gamma issues when encoding to the Quicktime H.264 CODEC, however trying to correct for any kind of onward colour correct those platforms maybe doing is going to be a hit and miss affair.
I’m of the rule of thumb that if it looks correct on my correctly calibrated setup then it’s good to go. If people want to mess with it after that, then that’s their lookout.
Sorry, but that’s just my arrogance!
