June 2, 2014 at 5:29 pm in reply to: Nomenclature and semantics: “podcast” : considered audio, video, both? One of the largest “podcast” networks that I’m aware of is Leo Leporte’s TWIT. They refer to their shows, which include video and audio, as netcasts. Like you said, probably not a question with a right or wrong, but just preference and whatever you think will register the best with your audience.

I’ve never tried – but I wonder if Blackmagic Media Express can record in different frame sizes. I just tried opening it and it won’t let me change settings since I’m not plugged into my Ultra Studio. I’ll try it when I get into the office later.

Sounds like you just need an MP3 player that goes to 11.

One other note – I have been using these with Switronix SWXPL90S batteries and I can run these panels at full brightness for just over 3.5 hours. I picked up 3 of the batteries and they fit in the case that came with the F&B lights, along with some gels and 2 small clamp on flags. Makes for a killer little kit.

Take a look at this thread from a few months ago. I use the F&V K4000 daylight panels and have been really happy with them. https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/47/860701
This was “pre NAB” so there are probably a lot of new options to consider, but my biggest complaint about NAB (and other shows) is that it seems like companies are more focused on showing/announcing products and less concerned with actually shipping them.

Custom printed velcro wraps work great. Server double duty for neat wrapping and identification. I got a bunch from Bardsco last year and have been really happy with them.

April 28, 2014 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Need 1) disk picture printed, and maybe 2) DVD burning and case coverHi Walter – my company offers duplication services with no minimum orders (on most orders). We use Rimage thermal printers and can ship orders as soon as the next day. We are located in California. Feel free to give me a call. https://www.mstproductions.com.

You may want to post something on the JWS forum. There are a lot of 633 users there.

I’m assuming/hoping you have found the solution for this but if you haven’t I hope it worked out ok for you. This does occasionally happen and the first time it happened to me I freaked out! However, there is a pretty decent work around so stay calm and hang in there – you’ll get through it.
Here’s what to do:
1. Go to FILE > EXPORT
2. Choose FORMAT > IDMLThat will export a working and current version of your project.
BEFORE YOU QUIT – open the file that you just exported and test to make sure everything is ok.
If all is well, now save that as a proper InDesign file and then you should be good to go. You can quit and close the other file and should now have a working version that can be saved.

I have the input to my Duo Scope fed from the switched output of my Panasonic production monitor via HD-SDI. This way whatever I’m monitoring I can also see scopes for. I don’t use SpeedGrade right now (still using Colorista directly in Premiere) but so long as Speed Grade plays with the Ultra Studio you should have no problem using the scopes with it. It just takes an HD-SDI signal. It can also display straight video signal and overlay audio meters, etc. When I am working on a project that has to be laid off to tape (yep, still get those) I turn off the vector and just keep the waveform and make one side the return of the deck for confidence. Very handy little display/scope unit.
