Hmmm, some interesting thoughts there, especially about the L glass. Maybe my money would be better spent elsewhere than on exceptional lenses?

I agree Noah, was thinking about L Series but not sure as this will obviously blow a lot of my budget. All about compromise I guess?

You’re right, forgot that – Zoom H4n coupled with Sennheiser wireless lavalier I guess?

Part 1 of my new kit complete – thanks :0)

  • Funnily enough I just posted asking for DSLR tips as I’ve just made the switch from Sony Z5E to DSLR. Maybe you could comment on my post above or perhaps share which bits of kit in particular you have found to be ‘essential’ as part of your corporate strategy??

Great post by the way, inspired me that I made the right decision anyway! :0)

Thanks John – fingers crossed! If the timecode isn’t on the tapes or if anything else untoward happens is that my only option?
    Again, many thanks.

Thanks for your assistance John – I’m not sure if I saved that file (or worse, whether it’s on the damaged hard drive) but I’ll have a look.

If not, right-click on one of the missing media files in the Project Media and select Recapture…. This will load the video capture utility and attempt to recapture the footage.

Does this mean that Vegas will automatically search for and match the missing clip with the relevant content on the tape?

Hey thanks Steve. Do I have to point the same captured clip to the exact same clip in the timeline or will Vegas recognise the footage or something? I only ask because the newly imported shots will have different names to the original so how do I know where to point them?

    Many thanks again

    Hi Steve,

Yes, I do have the Vegas file on my desktop so all good there. So, if I re-import all the footage off the tapes onto a new drive, open the Vegas project and point it to the new files, Vegas will automatically re-sync it all so all my edits, effects, etc etc remain unchanged?

If so, that’s amazing and may have saved my bacon on this particular time sensitive project!
