Thanks for the reply Neil – still not sure how I imported / rendered the wrong footage in the first place but it’s all a lesson I guess?! :0) Thanks again.

Thanks for the tips guys. Phil, do you have the 24-70mm and 70-200mm L Series? If so, do you find not having the 16-24mm range (when combined with the Tokina 11-16mm)covered is a problem or do you really not notice?

The error is applied over all manner of media clips including tifs, jpegs. However, the footage was captured using a Sony Z5e and imported using Log and Capture, imported I believe using HDV 1080i50.

I just opened another project and have the same issue there so it may be FCP in general rather than project specific??

Thanks for the pointers Steve – will check out your blog (apologies about slow reply, been on hols)

  • Thanks for the tips (just back from hols so apologies about the delay)

  • And just to confirm, you’re pleased with the DSLR shoulder mount from them? Was also looking at Glidetrack Shooter HD as a possibility so not sure which to go for now?

    Decisions, decisions :0)

  • Thanks for the tips!! Just been checking out that Cine City website, looks like some great stuff there at not a bad price – wonder if they ship to the UK??

    Thanks again

Cheers Chip – well so far, I have been doing mostly corporate case studies, video diary, documentary type stuff; not so much product promo or suchlike.

I guess I may be best suited to a ‘little bit of this, little bit of that approach’?

Thanks – in terms of lenses I think I’m sold on the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8; the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and then perhaps at least 1 L series so perhaps the 70-200 mentioned above.

If nothing else, I think your posts have made me lower my expectation a little bit and realise that even though everyone’s talking about them I don’t necessarily need top spec L glass at this stage.

So if lenses are sorted, what supplementary kit would / do you use in terms of order of importance?

    Would a suggestion be?

    1) Zoom H4n
    2) Sennheiser wireless lavalier mic
    3) ND Filters
    4) Some kind of shoulder mounted rig support
    5) A slider perhaps to really make your shots stand out?

I do only have a limited budget so am trying to make sure I really do get the right stuff to enable me to carry on shooting corporate / case study type films.

Cheers again for all the pointers everyone!
