    Hi Alan.

Would you mind sending me the project that no longer works?
You seem well versed in handling troublesome files, so I may
not be able to offer much until I test the files here.

Feel free to send me multiple projects (no media files — just .aep files) if you have them.

    Send files to: matt@zaxwerks.com

    Hi Kim.

First step: Make sure you’re running the latest and greatest Invigorator.

    You can download it here:

Let us know if this solves your problem.

    Thanks.

June 28, 2006 at 3:35 pm in reply to: banding in gradients

    Hi Lensflare.

The current Invigorator/ProAnimator renderer outputs in 8-bit (even though everything internal is done in floating point).
You may see banding in certain circumstances (when the color variation across a large portion of the screen is minimal),
but most users won’t see any.

Now that After Effects supports floating bit output, we’re looking into higher-bit output.

Stay tuned. And let us know if you have any other questions.
And, as always, feel free to download a demo of the product to see if it does what you want.

June 26, 2006 at 5:09 pm in reply to: Motion Blur problem with controllers

Hi Floh and others seeing this problem.

As it turns out, there is a bug in the Invigorator when you’re using a tracked layer and *do not* have “Use Comp Camera” on (and do not have a Comp camera).

To fix your problem (until the next bug fix release), do the following:
    – Add a camera to your comp (if you haven’t already).
    – Check the “Use Comp Camera” checkbox in the Invigorator ECW.

Please let me know if this doesn’t solve your problem.

    Thanks.

    Hello.

You may have come upon a bug in the Invigorator, one that I can’t seem to replicate here.

If you can send me your .aep file (no media files necessary), I’d be happy to take a look.
Please make sure you tell me which layer(s) to pay attention to.

Thanks a lot. I’ll let you know what I find.

    Hi Jim.

    Please email me offline (matt@zaxwerks.com).
I’d like for you to send me your Object Styles so that I can try to replicate your problem.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Bruce.

Would you mind sending me your project file? I’d like to take a look.
It looks like we’re trouble loading in the v3 project.

To answer your question, a lot changed between v3 and v4. In particular,
we now keep all of our swatches (Materials, Object Styles, etc.) in separate
file folders so that each plug-in can share the same set of swatches.
When loading a v3 file, we extract the swatches and put them on your disk.

If you can send me your project, send it to: matt@zaxwerks.com
I don’t need media files — just the .aep file.
I’d like to see if I can duplicate your problem.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Max.

A minute for a 5 second preview does sound like a lot — but it depends on a few things:
    1. Is the layer with the effect set to Draft mode? If it’s not, try switching to Draft mode until you’re ready to do a final render
    2. How complex is your scene? If you’re applying an effect to an extraordinarily large image, the effect may take a while
to calculate, even if the image doesn’t look large on screen.

Are you using any Zaxwerks products in your scene? If not, then this question is probably best asked elsewhere.

From our perspective, we haven’t seen any rendering/processing slowdown in AE 7 vs. AE 6.5 (or 6 or 5).

    Good luck.

    Hi Mathieu.

Can you tell us which machine you’re running Motion on?

Also, can you send me a sample scene that you’re applying PA to?
Let me know which layer(s) you’re adding the effect to.

You can send files to: matt@zaxwerks.com

    Thanks.
