Give this a try:

Go to your sequence settings and click on the video processing tab. Make sure “Render in 8-bit YUV” is selected and “White” is selected for “Process Maximum White as:”

I’ve been having similar problems with FCP crashes and this thread has been a great help. I have a Biggest S2S 2.5 TB with that cheap card mentioned earlier.
I’m planning on getting the caldigit card unless… I’m wondering if I should just get rid of the RAID. Can I use an internal hard drive in my 8-core Mac Pro for FCP editing purposes. I’m editing in HDV.
