    Thanks Wick,

10.5.4 installed and running nicely. I appreciate your quick attention to our issues. I am also looking forward to M100 taking advantage of AJAs new LHe drivers.

    Thanks Floh.

Does that mean that they won’t work or haven’t been tested?

If they won’t work, is M100 or AJA working on new M100HD compatible drivers? When are they expected?

    BOOM! you nailed it. Thanks!

Thanks to you I can now get back to my regular workFloh. I had started exporting QTs with alphas and compositing in M100HD. It worked fine, but I like compositing in AE and rendering native M100HD files MUCH better.

In AE, ref file shows up as 1920×1080, (1.0) separating upper

Comp is 1920×1080 @ 29.97, rendered Upper field first.

I know HDV is 1440 native, but has it been changed by aquireing via HD component?

Thanks for the quick help here guys. I’ve got about 300 comps to re-output for this project. Based on your suggested settings, I’m doing a few to test before I do the whole lot.

I’m going with the no alpha premult for these files, and have edited my 2nd module to alpha-straight to use for graphics with transparency.

    Thanks again!

It only happens with imported AE files, rendered as “native” M100i files. If M100 creates the file, “importing NTSC track filename.mov”, it’s fine. Media Digitized by M100 is fine.

Thanks for telling me what M100 expects. I checked my manuals before I posted and no mention of straight vs premultiplied channel.

What about Boris FX and Graffiti? Under the local project tab in graffiti I see preferences for straight, premult with white, premult with black, composite over black/white. Does this only affect the output of the graffiti file or does it also affect the compositing of the finished file to the timeline?

    Thanks!

    Yes,

Unfortunately reinstalls did not help me out either. I’m waiting for autodesk to reply to my tech support request. 2 days so far!

I’ll post any help I recieve.

    Great I’ll try that.

    I’m running m100 8.22 on a G4 running OS 10.3.9 w/ Quicktime 7.1.0.

    Thanks,

February 1, 2006 at 9:36 pm in reply to: FCP5 vs FCEHD

So if FCE captures HDV with the AIC, I would edit in AIC, and then output back to my Z1 in what CODEC? Is there another AIC to HDV transcode that has to happen first? Roughly how long does that take? What’s the quality difference between the AIC and the HDV native codec? Can you SEE it on a 1080i display?
    Thanks.
