Any word yet guys?
I’ve been patiently waiting for someone to tell me how the audio track routing, tracking and panning works in the multiclip “timeline”
It appears that only the only audio that is output is the clip designated “Cam 1” All other tracks are muted or ignored?
Any documentation besides the Floh Peters tutorial would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

sorry, i meant A1 Cam 1 and A2 Cam 1 were the only ones that work.

that didn’t help. It seems that the “A1 Cam 1” and “A2 Cam 2” level sliders are the only ones that make it through to the output. If you don’t have the those tracks faded up in the multiclip timeline, no sound is output to the B-bus. I remade the multiclip and switched the tracks to make another angle Cam 1. Now that track is the only one that is output.

Thanks Flo,
I really got a lot out of your multiclip tutorial, but here’s what I did that’s confusing me:
Musical performance shot with 3 cameras:
Cam 1
Ch 1 sound board
Ch2 ambient micCam 2
Ch 1 sound board
Ch 2 sound board louderCam 3
Ch1 ambient mic
ch2 ambient micI digitized three clips to the ProRes422HQ codec. All channels were digitized center pan.
I added sync marks to all 3 clips.
I selected all three clips with a marquee in the bin and selected “make multiclip” from the tools menu.
I dropped the new multiclip in the timeline and double-clicked to bring in into the edit suite.
I hit the multiclip button to open the multiclip “timeline”I adjusted all level nodes (lines) to zero.
I brought ch1 of cam 1 to up to unity.I hit the red circle to close the window and hit play in the timeline containing the multiclip.
I see music moving in A1 and A2 of the audio mixer.
Even though the bus is routed, no music is showing (or being heard) from the B-Bus which plays out from my monitors.I’m going to digitize again and pan my channels left and right to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks,

Having the same issue with AE CS5 v10 and Suite 2 on a Mac dual quad core with snow leopard.
Watching the tutorial on the M100 site, he moves the “Boris XML transfer for media 100 bundle” into the plugins folder. In my media100 folder, I only had a “AE_XML_Project_Importer.bundle” Maybe the name has changed since the tutorial was made, but it makes me wonder if I have the correct file.
My AE_XML_Project_Importer.bundle was created on Sept 21, 2007.
Leaving now for the holiday weekend. Maybe the Easter bunny will lay me a new plugin:) I hope everyone has a nice holiday.

Thanks for all the great advice. I’ve been keeping an eye on craigslist and I think I may have found a good deal.

Thanks Tom.
As this is HDV, I’m attempting to create the master with the least number of compression cycles.
Does anyone else know another way to do this? Is it possible to edit multicam with the original skewed clip, later add the adjustment to the master clip and have the newly edited sequence reflect the rotation. I’m sure I’ll have to render it before exporting and compressing to MPEG-2, but it may be better quality?

After downloading and testing Episode Pro, I believe that After Effects might still be the best tool for this job.
The fly in the ointment is a 720×540 square pixel frame containing downscaled interlaced video AND vector based text generated by AE.
Here’s what I did: I output a 720×540 interlaced quicktime using the Animation codec. I opened the file in Episode, selected a template, changed the size and checked that it was deinterlacing it properly.
I got a very large file with good looking video and crappy (1 field) text. I’m going to try again, producing a progressive Animation Quicktime for my source file.

Thanks Daniel. I’m downloading Episode now.
I’ll try some tests versus the Flip4Mac encoder. If it’s that much better, we need it. Since it seems that the whole world has decided to watch their videos on their laptop PCs, that’s how my videos will have to be encoded.
Do you know if Episode 5.3.1 will replace my Flip4Mac codecs/settings? If I don’t end up purchasing, will there be any issues getting Episode uninstalled and Flip4Mac to work again?
