Hadn’t really tried this in Photoshop before..(normally use Corel Draw for this)..but your post made me curious…

I drew a circle..then clicked with the text tool near the top edge and typed..and text thus went in a circle.

Text can then be edited by the normal character options if you want to adjust things like spacing between letters etc.

Also found this link which goes into more depth

btw…have you got Photoshop CS or CS 2? If you have an earlier version then it sounds like it was a real pain to do…Illustrator..Corel Draw or Freehand would no doubt be easier then.

Thanks for the idea Tim…I’ve tried importing the flower.psd from the samples file and have found that it also doesn’t work..ie I only get a footage option…

When I repeat exactly the same process on a laptop install of Premiere Pro..this works fine..sequence comes in ok…so I know that I’m using the right technique.

    Any ideas?

Hmmm..with a bit more playing I’m discovering this isn’t so bad after all…just found the rotation thing is available easily..

Sorry for asking such an easy question!

November 17, 2005 at 11:30 pm in reply to: Mpeg4 to anything!?

Thanks for tips..the camera has a Quicktime option..I wanted to ‘rescue’ mpeg 4 footage that the Olympus c-770 had already taken…

    My next big question:
Does anyone know if Sony Digital cameras (particularly Sony DSC-P93) take a compatible video format with Windows Movie maker or Premiere? (We can get some of these for free for our school through a promotion.)

    http://www.dpreview.com says it takes:
MPEG VX (VGA, 16/30 fps, unlimited)

I’ve never heard of MPEG VX! Is this another format that requires re conversion?

The other option we have is to use more of our promotion points on a SONY DVD Handycam..would this be an easier option? Again I don’t know what sort of file format these type of cameras use.

As I mentioned..the Canon we already have is incredibly simply…kids just download clips..and then import them directly…when you’re working with 50 odd Grade 5 kids..simplicity is your friend!

    Thanks for these tips..

re: Black and White..or saturation drop and then tint…that works well…just an extra step compared to the ‘old’ Canopus Raptor! I miss a few of the quick Canopus effect features..eg. Old Movie etc.

Also thanks for the tips re: Screen and Multiply…I thought that would have worked quite easily in Premiere too…I’ll have to sink my teeth into After Effects..I’ve just got quite used to Premiere now…and can do things quickly with that…
..it’s amazing the power of Premiere these days in itself..with the keyframes etc.

    Thanks again!

Think I may have just found the answer to my own problem:

    Directory Opus from http://www.gpsoft.com.au

Allows Dual Pane + a viewer pane + reads RAW files and seems to be easier to manage.

Still interested to hear of what other people do for their file management. Do you use the File Browser in Photoshop or something else?
