  • Applying default transitions works well, as listed above.

Myself, I often like to add little 2 frame crossfades at the start and end of audio heads/tails. So…. If you’d like to change the DURATION of the audio transition, you just need to go into the preference panel. Under “General” you can tell premiere how many frames you’d like the audio transitions to be.

In FCP7 you can make individual duration lengths and easily apply them. In premiere, you have to set all audio durations globally and live with that limitation.

So, you know, it works, just different.

Well, everyone’s wired different so there’s no magic formula for editing work flow. Also, the content and story sometimes dictate a different approach wherein you edit visuals before the audio. Or, small projects with just a few hundred shots that are edited in one afternoon might not require much orginization; just do it, y’know?

However, for what it’s worth and the logical progression/organization you’re adopting for your media management, IMHO, you’re doing it right, they’re doing it wrong.

I tried to do this years ago, but the signal path doesn’t really work like that.

You can always get an analog to firewire converter on ebay. Sony made one.

Or, dump your stuff to DVCPRO and then capture it.

Don’t know what you’re doing to your footage/audio, but I synch my stuff up just fine and it doesn’t drift.

You’re making a goof somehow in post.
