    Hi Joe,

Not in one shot. You can use the Ctrl+D shortcut and use Page Down to go to the next edit point.

Should get you there pretty quick.

Thanks Vince. Yea it’s normally something I’d never do but it’s a client request. It’s a huge project with an insane amount of cut points. Thanks for the short cut tip. I wasn’t aware of that, that’ll definitely help a bit!

Alternately, if you haven’t added your clips to the timeline there is an easier way to add default effect to all your clips in one go. Select all the clips in your project window, under PROJECT menu select AUTOMATE TO SEQUENCE, give clip overlay frames as needed and click OK. All selected footage will be laid out on the timeline forward of your playhead position with transitions at each cut. But if you already have clips cut on the timeline you have to do one by one (Page Down, Ctrl-D).

That’s very easy to do: just select all your cuts in the timeline (ctl + A) then go to Sequence > Apply Default Transition to Selection and voila. 🙂
    Happy editing

Hi Joe, im not sure if you can do the same in Premiere, but in FCP7 you only select all the clips in the timeline and then add the default transition and all the edit points will have a video transition, the same rule to audio clips. Try this, but i dont know if can be done in Premiere.

    Regards!

Robert is right. If I remember correctly, in very old versions of Premiere we could select all clips on timeline and press Ctrl+D and apply default transitions throughout but that was not working lately, but it is under sequence now.

“but that was not working lately, but it is under sequence now.”

It works flawlessly on my end.

[Robert d'Alexis] “It works flawlessly on my end.”

For whatever reason, when I select multiple clips on the timeline and press Ctrl+D it doesn’t apply default transitions to all cuts. (CS5)

Try this instead: select all your cuts on the timeline (ctl + A) then go to Sequence > Apply Default Transition to Selection.
