ROFL at the Ed picture. And thanks, FCP has to do the job for my CK as I don’t have any other software for green screening. Just the FCP Suite.

You know, I thought about that. I have a G5 as well, and with compressor, I utilized both PC’s processors in a node to expedite transcodes. I was worried that the response would just be the fact, my MBP may not be able to handle such HQ files… Let me run a self-contained export and use compressor, I’ll let you know how long it takes. Do these settings look optimal?

    Setting: Current Settings
    Include: Audio & Video
    Markers: None
    Recompress: Unchecked
    Self-Contained: Checked

What transfer method did you use? When previewed outside of FCP is it in sync? Is it synced on the camera preview?

    Zane,
I thank you for all the time you have taken. Just curious, what do you use to record? and what codec do you export to? Ive been doing my exports as MPEG-4 for purposes of streaming my videos.

Ok, one last question. The videos i make never exceed 8-10 minutes. Being portable is a huge advantage for my type of job. Would a MacBook Pro be able to effieciently edit and export 8-10 minute videos. Currently we are doing SD but are looking to go HD within the next 6 months. would this be a problem. If so, should i go with a Mac Pro then and lose the benefits of being mobile?

so does that mean purchasing a Mac Pro would be useless. 8 cores but only 1 would be used?

its not really a repair issue is it? i mean just opening a 1920×1080 file is too much for my laptop to handle i believe. Its a Alienware so ya its nice but it was designed for gaming not editing. should i be able to open a HD video on it?
