    Thanks so much for responding. I was actually able resolve the issue by upgrading the BCC effects, from 5 to 6. All is well!

    The problem is with the new Quicktime upgrade to 7.4. You have to get rid of 7.4, and get back to 7.3. Here’s an easy way to do it:

    Get Pacifist. Download and install that app. It allows you to downgrade apps without having to re-install the whole damn OS.

    Once you’ve got Pacifist, re-download QT 7.3. Open Pacifist and instruct it to open the 7.3 package. Follow the prompts, reinstall the whole damn thing. Takes about 10 minutes.

    This works, I’m back in business. By the way, I have spent more time monkeying with problems like this one in the past two months than in the previous several years of using Apple computers. The new OS was a nightmare, cost me several days and a few hundred bucks to get rid of that one. Now this.

    Maybe Apple should spend less time negotiating with The Beatles lawyers and more on getting things to work!

    Yep, that’s the ticket.

    Hi;
    MacOSaiX is great for making the mosaic; though (depending on size of animation, number of pictures, etc) sometimes you have to go in by hand (in Photoshop) to add or replace duplicates. I don’t think there is a Mosaic program which will make each tile on it’s own layer.

    You don’t need each tile on it’s own layer to animate it, though. You can animate the finished Mosaic in After Effects using card Dance. The trick is controlling it… There is a tutorial here: https://www.ayatoweb.com/ae_tips_e/ae50_e.html

    This can provide you with a starting point. Then, be prepared to tweak for the forseeable future.

    Hope this helps…

    Yo, Jeff… That’s a really useful post! I’d like toget one of those G5 Quad dealies… I had been thinking and wondering if I should wait until the Intel macs come out… but then backtracking because I have a feeling there will be ‘issues’ for a good little while. Plus, there could be problems interfacing with clients that may have a either G4’s or current G5’s.

    So I found your post helpful. I think I’ll go ahead and get one now, then get an Intel Mac in a few years when all the bugs have been cooked. In the meantime, I’ll have a rockin’ system that would put my current one to shame. A G4 733 mhz. It’s been great for the last four years… never a single problem. But time to move on!

    Thanks!
