Here’s what you do:
Get your two images, left eye and right eye.
Put them both in the timeline on top of each other. Apply the effect: channel> set channels to both of them.
For the top layer set the red channel to red, blue to none, and green to none. Set this layer to “add” mode.
Now for the layer below it set the red channel to none, green to none and blue to blue.
You may have to swap the order of the clips to match your red/blue glasses.

If you want a file to play from a dvd to a tv in a normal dvd player, you need to be rendering to 720×480 pixels. If you want it to be widescreen you can either make it anamorphic or letterboxed. Do a search for either of those phrases here to get more info. The day isn’t here yet when you can play a high definition clip from a standard dvd player, only a pc.

The trick to doing this is synchonizing all four screens. That means either mutiple computers linked together or one computer with multple outputs. You could look into buying a video card for a pc that has multiple monitor outputs. Here’s an example of a video card with three outputs:

but i would question using powerpoint to do this. I have done this using either synchonized dvds (one dvd per plasma) or a system called watchout which synchonizes multiple pcs and allows you to move items from one screen to another, etc. watchout is great but expensive, about $1500 per pc license last time i looked. it also has a pretty steep learning curve. the dvd route is easier, but you need to be able to use an editing program, dvd authoring program, and maybe a graphics package like After Effects. There is a good thread below talking about it. you can also search for “multiple screens” here on the cow and get some good info.
If you do try the multple display video card approach I’d love to hear about your experience.

I was just working on a project and found a cool way to make an arrow with a stroke that follows the arrowhead’s path. First, you keyframe the motion of the arrow head (which it set to align along path). Then you make a new layer the size of the comp and apply the “write-on” effect. Next, add an expression to the brush position of the write-on and link it to the position of your arrow head. Tweak the other write-on settings until you get a stroke you like. Now, you can fiddle with the position of the arrowhead as much as you like and the stroke will always follow automatically. pretty nifty, if i do say so myself.

You should export a quicktime movie with the animation codec. This is uncompressed, and no artifacts are being introduced. It should be the full frame rate of your final piece, whatever that may be. The question for the DVD is whether it is a data DVD (ie-just a file on a disc) or and authored DVD-Video, which would need the animation file turned into an MPEG-2. You just need to figure out if this is for someone to view on a DVD player or just someone on a computer is grabbing the file off the disc.

If it’s playing back from a dvd then I would go with making an anamorphic 16:9 video. What I do is create a square pixel, 864 x 480 (if you are using dv) or 864 x 486 (if you are d1) comp. then when i render i squeeze it down to 720 x 480 (or 486). You also have to decide which way is up, the left or right side of your screen. That is, when you rotate the plasma to the vertical position are you turning clockwise or counter clockwise? Lastly, i would keep things progressive rather than interlaced, becuase it looks better on a plasma.

A cheat that may work is to put your star psd in a comp. Make it a 3D layer. Now duplicate it 10 times or so. now move each copy back in z space 10 pixels or so from the others. you end up with a layered look that definitely shows depth. it’s not the perfect solution that invigorator gives you, but it’s interesting.

Thanks for the input. I’ll give procoder a shot or maybe sorenson squeeze or compressor. Program stream means that the audio and video have been “muxed” together right?

What I’ve always heard is that you should try to keep the total bit rate (audio+video) below 8mbps.
Here’s a quote:
