    >>”I haven’t trusted Auto-Save since FCP 2 oh-so-slowly fried a project file and I had four hours of unopenable Auto-Saves.”<< Murphy is not your friend - but is always ready for a pint! Yeah, I think there was always something like that happening to me in either Premiere Pro, Avid MC 1000, FAST Silver or FCP. Thank God I didn't own any of these systems. It's nice to play on these systems and be an editor/employee, but I sure missed out on the profits! I wonder if the automator app in my Mac could copy the .fcp file like you mentioned? -Matt

    Ok, that definitely clears things up. I guess that goes along with the Achems Razor theory!

    Sorry to say I didn’t think of that before. In the future I will do that and also pass that along to the other editors here.

    For now, it seems that my project is on my FW drive for the most part and then there are some other files in my documents folder. I guess that FCP changed my target folder at some point and then I had to change it back. I found out about this when I selescted the “show source” column in the project bin. I must have goofed somewhere, but I quickly moved and reconnected the media with no problem.

    I wonder how I can double check the target when I’m logging/capturing.

    Thanks for the help!

    I never thought I would say this, but having just moved over to FCP from Premiere Pro, I’ve found many things that I liked better in Premiere. Text is a biggy…we always use a font called Helvetica Neue and it has many different thicknesses, etc. Premiere was great for handling any font in the computer and any incarnation of the font. By this I mean something other than “plain-italic-bold-bold/italic”. It’s such a pain to have to move out of FCP to some other app just to get the correct thickness of a font.

    Here’s some other stuff I liked better in Premiere:
    * Speed function
    * .wmv export (only 3rd party for FCP, cost me 50 bucks!)
    * .wav, .mp3 export (Not even in Soundtrack Pro)
    * “Fill Right” and “Fill Left” Premiere audio effects
    * Soft focus and glow effects (I think these are Matrox)
    * Audio mixer changes global track settings (A1,A2,etc)
    * copy/paste to different track on timeline
    * Some of the real time effects (althought FCP resolution is much better)

    And now Premiere Pro 2 has “clip notes” which would make my life so much easier!!!

    Overall, I am much happier with the stability of the Mac, but would really like to
    see these features in FCP.
