Im not an expert, and somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but a deflector only works on particles. You need to create a collider object that the dynamics of the falling text can interact with. So either make the wall a collider object (not a ridgid body, or gravity will effect it) and make sure the wall and the text aren’t intersecting or strange interactions will happen. Or make an invisible plane as a collider object instead of the wall. The main issue I’ve ran into is making sure the text and the collider object you are using as a deflector aren’t touching at the beginning of the animation.
So, can’t use a deflector, those are only for particles, create a collider object for the text to interact with to keep it from going behind the wall.
Good luck!

Or set one clip to fill the frame, select it, copy then select the other clips and paste attributes.

Well, apparently I can’t edit my post, so there.

caught again.
[Jeremy Garchow] “No no. DVCPro HD does not need the anamorphic button ticked. I promise, it does not.”
You are entirely correct, sir. My bad. i don’t work with DVCPROHD much anymore (Go PRORES!!!) so, I was pulling on an apparently bad memory. I wil edit my post so no one else goes astray.
Carry on, ladies and gents.

Allright, allright, lets back up a bit.
Depending on what effects ou are using in you timeline, you will be stuck with the long render times for the seq. You’ve learned your lesson not to use uncompressed, slap your own wrist and be done. Or, try to select all and copy to a prores 422 seq and see what happens. Your render times might decrease, or your coffee might all the sudden go ice cold. Not sure.
Always export self contained movies. Repeat – Always export self contained movies. If anything happens to the media a reference movie is referencing (deleted, moved, name changed, computer brain phaert) you will have to endure 2 hours of clicking CANCEL when quicktime tries to relink to the media it can’t find. Once your timeline is rendered it shouldn’t take too long to export. At that point its just writing a file. Now, if its still 8b uncompressed, cry a little and wait it out. Dat’s gonna be one big mofo file.
If you are creating a standard def DVD in DVDSP (if you say you want to create an HDDVD, slap yourself), use the preset in DVDSP that works for the length of your movie. If you don’t know the details of compression, use a preset and learn to be patient. If you do, you can change some of the settings and get faster compression times, with slightly (and I mean SLIGHTLY) less quality. Plus you are trying to fit over 2hrs of footage to a single layer DVD, it ain’t gonna be pretty. 2 layer DVD, would be a lot better.
But Dave is right. Use the MPEG2 presets, and look for the Dolby Digital audio settings. I don’t think the presets are called ac3 anymore, its dolby digital. There should be presets with both mpeg2 and audio settings in them.
Hit submit, and sit and watch. Or play pong. Your choice. Unfortunatly mpeg2 compression is not yet multi processor friendly (at least in my world) so you get what you get (and don’t have a fit, as my kids say).
Good luck, and let us know te final tally.

Check your timeline settings but hitting command+0 and see what it says. Should be 1280×1080 with the appropriate non-square pixel ratio selected, and has to have the anamorphic box ticked.
Even better, make a new seq, and drag one of the clips onto it and click YES when it asks you if it should conform the seq to the clip settings.

And I will review all my IP settings and how the computer is setup to make sure. I believe we are running the latest firmware, but I will check that as well. Thanks for the tips.

[Jeremy Garchow] “I’ve never had a problem with the GUI at all. I use it almost all the time. I do usually run it direct connected through a laptop, though, with default IP.”
That’s how I had it hooked up, direct, not through a hub, switch, etc. I thin kit might be a combo of old computer and impatient operator (read:Me). We now trigger record via the SDI trigger from the af100. Its actually nice to have recording on the internal SDI cards AND the KiPro mini. Saved our butts the first test shoot when they turned on the OSD out from the AF100 and it recorded it to the kipro. Was amazing to see that after ingest how close the 2 clips looked! Yes, you could tell which was from the kipro and the af100, but it was still pretty close.
[Jeremy Garchow] “I assume you mean “Boom you’re done” when the Ki stops rolling and you have to stop or you miss part of the action? Then yes, boom you’re done as in not recording anymore.”
Yep, that’s what I mean. I mean unlike our HPX2000 with 2 64GB and 3 16GB cards in it recording to AVC-50 where you get gobs of record time, the camera guy or tech needs to once again pay attention to his/her available record times. It was easy to get out of that habit, but we are now back into it. Never should have left, but hey….
And the AF100 will span cards internally, but its an option defaulted to OFF.
[Jeremy Garchow] “It is definitely worth the note for someone who is just sitting down to the Ki for the first time.”
Yep, that’s why I put it here. Its how we (I) learned it. I am normally pretty intent on reading the manual before using something, but we were rushed this time around. Won’t do that again!
All in all I think the unit is pretty solid, just got done with a shoot with almost 400 gb of captures off the KiPro mini, and no blips, no bad clips, no glitches. The thing is pretty solid, and mounts neatly on the rear rails of our AF100 rig. We sandwiched the KiPro between cheese plates and put a vmount battery adapter with 2 dtaps (one for the KiPro, one for the AF100) on one side. And we got the IDX AC100 (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/530620-REG/IDX_AC_100_AC_100_On_Camera_AC_Power.html)
So we now only have one power cord running up to the camera when running on AC instead of the floor warts that come with the kipro and the af100. Pretty slick.

More info-
Cam is set to rec run DF TC. This all shows properly in the L&T window before ingesting.
I’ve tried importing as ProRes (all flavors) and the AVCIntra as both ProRes and Native, and it still does it.
I’m trying again, and some clips get the TC reset to all zeros, and some clips have the TC set to random times, like 21:24:14;28, then the next clip is zeros, then the next clip has the correct TC.
Thanks for the ideas, still looking around….

Um, ditto. With a couple of additions-
[Jeremy Garchow] “I highly recommend controlling the Ki through ethernet/computer.”
Only issue is that the TC goes to zeros when there is no TC going into the unit via SDI. Wish it would freeze the display on the last TC it saw from the SDI input.
Don’t use the web interface to start/stop recording. There is a delay/lag, and several times I’ve had the unit lock up while trying to control/playback from the web interface. You have to be patient when using the webinterface for any function. if you get to punchy with trying to format, set default clip/reel names etc, the KiPro can loose its head quite easily. Nothing a reboot won’t cure, but the boot times on this thing aren’t stellar either.
[Jeremy Garchow] “here’s no spanning of CF cards, so make sure to be aware of your record time and switch cards appropriately. “
Not sure if they all do this, but ours will stop recording when there is 10% left on the card. Boom, your’re done. It will close out the file, but there’s no warning. And like stated above, it takes longer to unmount and remount the other card that it seems.
Otherwise its a great little unit. So far.
