Wow. I have this same issue four years later. Here must be a way by now. Did you end up solving it? Basically I have an object flying around a room spewing smoke behind it. As it approaches the floor I’d like the particles to interact with the floor. But like you I am having difficulty finding something I can key frame to do it. There are harder more complex ways… But I’m trying to avoid them.

April 7, 2014 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Referencing null movement with relative position offsetThis might be the poor man’s answer (I use expressions but I don’t claim any large amount of understanding of them) but what if you made copies of your Master Null, all with the same motion then parent one object to one Null and just move the Null’s keyframes to offset the time as desired?
If you have a lot of objects this might be tedious, and maybe there’s another reason you want to do it using expressions. But if it’s not quite working for you with expressions and you have the patience, it’d work.

Richard’s right.
I use a Mackie 1202 VLZ3, and I have both XLR and 1/4″ outputs on it. There are some simple XLR to 1/4″ adaptors you can by in any electronics or audio shop if the Z4 doesn’t have the outputs you need and you’re not into soldering.

March 6, 2014 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Is there another Keyboard ShortCut for one frame forward ?=^O Le gasp! That’s the problem with being self-taught. Alot of the keyboard shortcuts have eluded me.
This one in particular is huge. I’ve always known that there must be one but I always forget to search for it until I need it. Thank you all. I suddenly feel the need to go and rotoscope something…

Thanks for the responses. I followed up with him. It was a typo. He’d meant OMF files. Which some of you clued into and which makes WAY more sense.
Thanks all!

Whether or not that answered Ashley’s question, it was something that I didn’t know before.
Thanks!

Any sample frame grabs of the results you can get?

Listen to Steve Brame. 🙂
You can use nested comps as “drop zones”. I haven’t used Motion 4 that much but was a big user of previous versions and I think that will help. Just create a comp within your main comp and use it as you would a drop box.

Thanks for all the great responses. Good advice that I will put to use.
What I’ve been doing is trying to come up with side projects on my own time that either push the boundaries of what I know how to do or at least are something that I’ve yet to actually do, even if I think I already have a good idea of how to do it.
These forums help too, trying to answer other people’s questions challenges me and gives me ideas too, not to mention reading the answers from other great posters (some of whom I recognise in this thread too ha ha).
Thanks again.

Hi Dave.
How many frames does this “dogleg” take to happen? Looks like…2 or 3?
Any chance there’s an expression added to the position?
Great screen grab by the way, answered 90% of my initial questions.
