Still curious if anyone has an answer, but in the meantime I found a work-around. Just used a circular mask instead of the rotobrush. Should have done that in the first place, but for whatever reason my brain latched on to that plan…
Still though, why would the rotobrushed mask quit on me after 40 frames?
Weird…

Sorry, which elements are you missing now? It certainly looks pretty close to me.
Is it just the colour of the layers? You can change that by clicking on the square to the left of the layer name that is the same colout as the layer in the timeline.
Anything else missing?

Good point. More and more I’m thinking that I need to a test shoot with at least some roughed in lighting, just to see what I’m getting into.

Thanks Todd,
I’m thinking a test shoot might be in order… The portable pop up green screen is something I hadn’t considered. That might come in handy in some instances.
The video is a dramatic piece, and the scene takes place in a bar. Which makes lighting for the scene while also lighting for the chroma key extra fun. Maybe I could light it all with some minus greens and colour correct in post…
I think I need to do a test shoot. 🙂

I think Shane’s right, my OS is actually too old. 🙂
We’ll see if he’s right.

Thanks I will try to update to 10.6.8 or newer and see if that does the trick.
And yes it is late in coming Shane, but it’s a slightly older machine we weren’t using. We’re just breaking it out now for a new hire to use until our next hardware purchase.
He can edit in 7.0, and we can take his projects into 7.0.3 of course, it’s just a pain that we can’t send him any of our project files.

There are also some internal settings on the camera, accessible through the menus. “Audio Input” in the main menu second tab down. I won’t tell you what your settings should be, because that’s really up to you, but there are definitely some settings there that can have an effect.
I use a Sony ECM 44B microphone and I’ve used the 77B as well and I don’t think I had to adjust any of these internal settings, but that might not be the case for your other mic.
Hope that helps.

Shouldn’t make a difference, the After Effects equivalent of unplugging and then plugging it back in, but who knows?
That’s all I have to add, sorry. Maybe dance counter-clockwise around the computer and sprinkle salt on the case… lol
Good luck.

June 4, 2014 at 5:34 pm in reply to: A close up of earth with ‘information lines’ bouncing from city to city? Here are a couple of bricks along the road for you, depending on what look and feel you want for this.
Some effects you might use: Spherise, CC Sphere
I’ve done a globe before, but I don’t recall which I used. It was one of them for sure.
For information lines, you would map those out on a layer(s) above your map and precomp with your map before applying the sphere effect. Then, it depends on if you want the ligns to be persisitent or only to come on as the information goes around.
You might try using a lens flare as your information packet moving along the lines. Might get processor heavy, depending on how many lines and info packets we’re talking about. But you could also export a few before you turn it all into a sphere and composite more on top, then sphere it up. 🙂
Hope that’s a start anyway
