promo/trailer work is what I eventually want to work in. I really just want to get back to work, Period. I’ve been doing this non-stop for 4 years, and when I moved here I’ve spent a month looking for work (course it was Holidays and that sucked). If I can’t get back on the controls soon I might go insane. Why can’t companies just say how much they are willing to spend. It would make finding a job so much more easier.

I’ve seen a report show that Video Editors in the Los Angeles region make $22.70-$44hr., but typically $30hr. or a $200-250 day rate. Does this sound reasonable? Do companies negotiate if the rate is too high or do they run away and find someone else?

For now, I’d say day rates for the following:
    Cooperate Video Editing
    DVD Authoring
    General FCP Editing

    Junior Level

Yes, I set that when I first installed QT Pro. For some strange reason, it’s off by default? That’s silly, it should always be on…

I often thought it might be the player as well… There is a difference if I open a RAW clip in FCP vs QT Player. Maybe QT just sucks and that’s why it’s free or $30 for Pro (or however much it is).

    Hi Jim,

We have the HVX and we send stuff to AE a lot. AE should see the P2 Footage with no prob… Unless your AE is on a PC and you’re sending footage from a MAC.

A quick solution is to just Export your shots that need stabilized as a QTMOV(using a PNG Codec, since it’s lossless) and render out of AE with the same QTMOV (PNG Codec).

But be careful importing HD footage from FCP to AE. I have posted an issue that you might run into.

    Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I have try what you said and it’s still lightening the footage. I was just informed about 2hrs ago that FCP has an upgrade for $100 (nice for Apple to do that to us FCP user 😛 )

This new upgrade is supposed to fix a gamma issue that happens when you send your footage to other programs or computer platforms.
So that might help FCP accept the correct gamma settings when importing a clip from AE…. That’s all I can think of for now.

    Thanks Again
