Sure would. Keep in mind I’m on FCP 6, but hopefully getting 7 soon.
What I was able to do was drop the transitions in and use about -87 for angle and a radius of about 30. I then exported that and comped it over my original. Deleted the transition from v1 and keyframed the opacity on v2 to look like the page was laying on the left side. its not great, but its not bad either. And since the transition is only about 20 frames long, it moves rather quickly. Just the type of cheesiness the client will like.

Ha. I knew it. Traitor. Only kidding. Thanks for the info. I’ve been trying to AE for a while now. Trying to get $ for things is like pulling teeth around here. I should be getting it soon though. Yay, another program to learn. I was be sarcastic there. The process never ends!

Hey guys, this is what I’m referring to. I just found one of Stephen Smiths tutorials (link below) and at about the :23 marker the cover page turns and lays flat on the left hand side. Looks nice. This is what I’m after. Do you think he did this in Motion?

David/Rafael, thx. I’ll see what I can work out. I might be able to export the full page peel and composite that on another layer and fade it out so it looks real. we’ll see.
Still working on getting FCP 7. fingers crossed. but thx anyway.

Thx Stephen, but I don’t have those tick marks. Is there something to turn on somewhere. Or is this a new feature in FCP 7. I’m still on 6.

Walter, the DVC HD Frame rate convertor tells me it will only work with 720p material. I have 1080p material. So is Cinema Tools my only option then for reverse telecine and getting back to 23.98?

Hey thanks Matt. Since this post our color guy stopped by the office to calibrate everyones machines for print & design work and my machine was calibrated just for monitor like ness between the 2 displays, since I don’t do print work anymore. We started with gamma to 2.2, candelas to 100 cd, and to 6500k and let the Eye One calibrate the rest. From there we got my displays to match very closely, if not spot on.
What I didn’t now and just learned from another post in another forum is that FCP degrades the color space (or something like that. don’t know the technical terms) in order to help with realtime playback performance. I knew that depending on your RT and playback settings it would change frame rates and resolution but not color. So, I think I’ll finally be able to help myself by moving forward with the Matrox MXO2 purchase. This should help give me a lot better color on my client monitor than my computer displays would. Short of a broadcast monitor, this is the next best thing for me.

RobI believer if you record DVCPro HD to tape, it’s ALWAYS recording 59.94
It sure is. The deck plays out at 59.94 and when you capture, you’ll then have to remove those flagged frames. I learned the hard way. We shot 24p to tape and when I digitized it was 59.94. I had to use Cinema Tools to remove the pulldown to get it back to 24p or 23.98.
