Why not just use Primatte or Keylight. Simply key out the yellow and use that as an inverse Alpha Matte.

I never make h264 from AE. I always render a quicktime and then export an H264 from Quicktime Pro.
I’d check how often you are setting keyframes in the compression settings… I’d set one every 30 frames or so if your video doesn’t edit too quickly.

If you are getting funny playback of the footage that seems as if it is skipping frames… I can almost guarantee you are trying to work with the H264 the 5D records in. Convert your footage to Apple Pro res or something else and AE will like you more.

I cant imagine why you have an entire song on a drummer in front of green screen… but that’s another topic.
Cymbals and metal on desks and chairs can be a big problem.
When shooting cymbals the best thing to do is believe it or not… dirty up the cymbals. No drummer is going to want to do this to his good cymbals so you will need a pair of crappy cheap cymbals. Then rub brasso or something like it all over the top but only clean it of lightly this will muddy up the green reflections.
Since the footage is shot already…. this is for next time.
People I think are delusional about keying footage. If you want a perfect key every time, sometimes you will have to bite the bullet and roto. I have had to roto many a painful keying situation due to poor prep by someone else on a set I was never on.
Tips for the future.
– It usually takes multiple keys to get a good final key
– You will be rotoing something.
– If a part of them has holes… simply plug them with a layer on top.~ Good luck.

Boomerlabs.com has a plugin Max2AE. This will allow you to move camera Data back and forth between Max and AE. How you choose to trach the shot initially is up to you. i.e. boujou / PF track etc.

Use particular plugin by trapcode.com… or the particle system within AE.
You will need more than one particle system in the scene to pull it off most likely.

I would rewatch the tutorials on videocopilot.net. The plugin is explained quite well.
It is a fabulous way to make great camera moves in AE. And yes… getting around the issue you are having is mentioned in the video tutorial.
