This is probably too late but I was just looking for info on this same problem & came across your thread. I found on the Digital Anarchy site, in the FAQ page, some info on this incompatible plugin. It says, “You are probably using an older installer on the Mac. We have just released a new Aurora Sky installer that supports After Effects 7.0 on Mac OS X. To request this free update, please contact us…” Check out Digital Anarchy site https://www.digitalanarchy.com/aurora/aurora_faq.html#faq13
    Hope this helped.-M

A great site to check out for tutorials on this subject is RETOUCHPRO.COM. I discovered the site when I was doing some photo fix up work. The site also has a nice gallery of members work so you can get inspired. -Maryanne

Aaron, as soon as you said memory leak that reminded me. I got a wierd error message shortly after that that read: After Effects warning: Tracked memory leaks detected. Advanced 3D: 16 bytes leaked Open GL 3D: 20 bytes leaked. That must be it. I had never seen that error message before. Thanks, MA
P.S. Where do you find that secret purge after so many frames option? I know Edit/ Purge/purge all but not where to set it up.
    Thanks all
