    Very happy to finally see a white paper on this. Wish it had been released back in June. As I read through it, I still wonder why the need to change the terminology? I don’t understand the purpose/advantage of change in terminology. This document very nicely sums up, in a side by side comparison, the “old way” and “new way” of referring to this stuff.

    Genius is usually obvious, but all of this only makes me ask “Why?”.

    Not sure that’s the case. I too, got a refund, but still have the 10.0 installed. Haven’t used it past the original few days, but just haven’t deleted it. I was curious if what you say regarding being able to download it was try. I don’t think so, as the only way I can tell to download the update is via the app store. I also have a copy of Motion and Compressor (which I have been working with some) and it updates, as of yesterday.

    As mentioned before, the 30 day trial is available. I have downloaded that and will spend a bit of time seeing what it does better…. after I’m done working with our new version of PPro.

    It appears there is some success with using CatDV. Thread here;

    I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Let me know if you come up with anything else. It would appear Square Box (the makers of CatDV) are one of the preferred third party vendors for FCPX. They are listed here;

    FWIW… CatDV truly is awesome. It was VERY encouraging to see Square Box listed on Apple’s page regarding third party vendors they are supporting (see it here – https://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/software-update.html). Been using this application since it’s infancy and I can’t say enough good things about it.

    Sorry for the digression, but if you’re not familiar with the Cat, it’s worth a good long look.

    A minor faux pas on Mr. Weiss’s part. Given the rich and intelligent input he has provided, I have MUCH more faith in his “credibility” than the nasty few in this thread.

    @ Andrew-

    XML shema (AXEL)

    I assume shema=schema… right?

    What is AXEL?

    From the MacWorld Article –

    “The professional [editor] is critical to Apple, and it’s a customer we don’t want to lose,” said Richard Townhill, Apple’s director of pro video product marketing, in a conversation with Macworld.

    About time someone from Apple actually stepped up and made this statement, though at this point it probably means “it’s a customer we’re working on getting back”.

    Does anyone have any history on Mr. Townhill? I’m not familiar with him.

    Finally, some encouraging news….

    “Sony is updating their XDCAM EX plug-in to support native import directly into Final Cut Pro X.”
