I’m having the exact same problem. I was able to interpret the footage with the previous version of AE, but lost the ability to interpret as Universal Camera Film Print Density, which I need, the moment we upgraded. This has brought on so much trouble with this project, and the due date is looming.

I’m not well versed at color management.

Can anybody guide me here? What does “applying to hdtv to universal film” even mean? Is this an intended feature? How on earth can I interpret my footage, or make it show correctly for rendering on CC 2015.3?

Nvm, I got it! Keyed Up saved me, I ended up assigning the numpad / and now everything works. Man, that took me 4 years to look up.

I’ve found that the shortcuts.txt seems to have what I need assigned to Shift + /, and Cmd + / for fit, and fit to 100% respectively, but it’s not working at all.

I think i expressed myself incorrectly. I don’t want to fit the layer to the comp, I know that shortcut already, I want to fit the comp to the viewport, to recenter it after I’ve zoomed it in and out, and moved around with the . and , keys.

  • FWIW, I fixed the missing formats.

Apparently you have to delete a txt file from the contents/resources/txt directory file, then reload the media encoder, and magically it works.

So far so good. Now there’s some kerfuffle going on about some jittering and everybody’s blaming the fields, but I believe that someone dropped the ball when preparing the raw material to begin with.

So, apparently we’re good for the moment. Thank you guys for all the help!

  • I’ll look for that and install it, and update, thanks!

The non-drop was my mistake, I was looking at the wrong page of the cheatsheet. The rest still stands.

  • I’m fairly sure, yes. I can export XDCAM footage no problem from AE.

  • It seemed production was just using some very old software for conversion. So the problem has changed into a new one! Progress is still progress though.
So instead of making a new thread, I’ll just continue in this one for the sake of order, if that’s ok.

I think I want to use adobe media encoder for the final render.

    My output needs to be:

Timecode: Must be continuous and Non-Drop Frame
    Extension: .mov
    Codec: XDCAM HD422 1080i60 (50 Mbit/s )
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
Audio: STEREO ( do not unlink ) PCM 48Khz, 24 Bits (little-endian)Å  Export audio
    as channel grouped.
    Frame Rate: 29.97 Interlaced
    Resolution: 1920×1080, Upper (odd)

Sadly, AFAIK, AE can’t export that particular audio format, so we are going to go through adobe media encoder, which is a first for me. After looking at some 101 tutorials, I think something is off. I get very few format options on the dropdown menu of the media encoder, compared to what I should be getting if the tutorials are right. I’m uploading some screenshots:

    what i should be getting:

    what i’m actually getting:

    what could the problem be?

  • Yeah, the framerate is wrong on the reference file, that has since been fixed. The resolution is what keeps bugging us.

  • There’s a third value that represents that, under “current size”, i believe. Here’s what I’m seeing:9790_capture.png.zip
