Phew! There’s nothing worse than someone saying “works fine here” 😉

No it’s not directly Wacom related (as I mentioned before) but the problem IS more obvious with a hovering Wacom pen constantly sending it’s position to the Mac. Hence why Wacom users are the most upset by the bug.

Yes it happens here too. It’s more annoying with a Wacom because even when you’re hovering the pen, the tablet is constantly sending the Mac it’s coordinates and FCP freezes.

If you slip and slide using the mouse it stops the playhead, using the keyboard for slip and slide does not.

Sure, there’s two ways to do it:

For both ways you’ll need to enable View > Loop Playback, make the clip or transition selection on the timeline and choose the tool you’re going to use before going one of these:

1) Use the ‘Play Around Current” (backslash key) which will loop around your current frame according to the pre and post roll settings in User Preferences.

2) Mark an in and out point on the timeline and use the “Play in to out” (shift-backslash key)

It’s interesting what you’re saying about the Combustion/*edit integration. Do you mean that the clip sources for the combustion project are “live” in the *edit timeline, so they can be changed at any time and the Combustion clip will automatically update?

In FCP I’d really like to be able to “peek inside” the Motion clip and get a sub-timeline where you could replace the footage if you wanted to.

You have to hold down the Command key to take the original cuts across from sequence to sequence. Here’s a tip – what I’ve done is remap my F9 and F10 keys to be the “Insert/Overwrite sequence content” commands, so I don’t have to hold down the Cmd key. The cool thing with doing this is that when you have a regular source clips in the viewer they behave exactly as they would in normal insert/overwrite modes.

Michael, wait until you want to repatch specific tracks between sequences whilst being able to view both timelines 😉 It can’t be done. What I’d like to see Apple do is to go one better than Avid and allow a split-view timeline. Imagine if the track patching area moved to the centre of the window and a new source timeline area was revealed to the left…
