Steve,
Thanks for the response. I also wouldn’t think AE would
care about the number of JPEGs. I originally rendered
TIFF files, but the same issue occured so I don’t think
it has to do with the files being JPEG.
You know I thought about just using the server files,
but I am afraid that AE is corrupting the JPEGs and
don’t want to destroy these. I guess I’ll have to try
it since that would tell me if the copy was the problem.
I’m just hoping to exhaust all other possibilities first. Thanks for the suggestions!

dark4une,
I’ve been using the P2 cards for a month or so
and the 3.1 version of PPro works great with P2
data. I just copy it from the CONTENTs file from
the P2 card to my second HD. Then just import the
files in the VIDEO directory. PPro attaches the
audio automatically(all 4 channels).
After Effect doesn’t suppport P2 data yet, but
according to Adobe it is supposed to in the next
update. Right now, I just render an uncompressed
file for us with AE.
The only other slight bother is that windows
media player doesn’t support the 960×720 PAR=1.333
so when I play the rendered media(from AE or
Cinema 4D) using those specs the aspect ratio is
wrong. Viewing in PPro is just fine.Hope this helps… Can’t complain about the speed
either.MBW

Leighton,
This is probably DISK IO. My setup has two SATA
3.0Gbps drives, one for system/software, the other
for captured video, previews and C4D output files. If I create a 1280x720p 24fps AVI file and put it
on the system drive, when I play it with Windows
media player I get missing frames, audio doesn’t
line up with video and stuttering playback. Now if I copy the same AVI file to the hard drive with
just captured video/previews and C4D output files,
then play it with WMP again it plays fine. No need for
a big RAID system.Again, my output was 1280x720p 24fps PAR=1.0.
Hope this helps.

Tim,
This needs to be documented better by all involved,
Adobe/Cineform/NVidia and ATI. What a complete waste
of a week trying to figure this out when a simple
change to a 3 year old card and a 5 minute calibration
would have made it go away. Wish I had the HD-SDI
monitoring though. That would make this MUCH nicer.
Do you use a AJA Xena for HD-SDI output? What monitor
do you use?
The bummer thing is that I installed the NVidia card
so Magic Bullet for Editors works in near real time.
They apparently write the code to take advantage of the
NVidia card. This ATI card that I have is more like
4X slower than real time. 🙁 Hopefully the version3
of Magic Bullet Looks will play nice with ATI too. Thanks for the feedback.

Kent,
I have been involved with the previous discussions
about AspectHD and know intimately the problem with
the color shift in the preview window. I to filed
a ticket, but have gotten NO response from the support
personal. That said David Newman(Cineform CTO) has been
helpful on this forum. He actually got one bug fixed and released in the latest patch.
Oh yeah, the color shift… This is a pain. I agree
that it occurs and I too didn’t want to believe that it
was a graphics card issue. To some extent it is and it
isn’t. I’ve been using Adobe on this same system editing
DV video for 3 years and NEVER saw the issue with either
Nvidia or ATI cards. As soon as I put AspectHD in I see
the color shift using cineform projects.
I have spent 3 hours trying to adjust the color settings
of the Nvidia cards with no luck. So I put my 3 year old
ATI card back into my system and loaded the latest driver
spent 5 minutes and got much of the color shift to go away.
In fact, I really only see the shift in brightness/contrast.
Very usuable for editing. From my experience this morning
I can definitely say that it is much easier to setup the
ATI card so it might be good to try a new card. All that being said, I still have an issue with the
actual export being tinted towards the green. Hopefully
I can get this fixed.Hope this helps!

David,
Just so you know, I filed a ticket with support
Wednesday night. I just wanted to give you some
feedback since you’ve been helpful here on the forum. I
didn’t realize though that only one overlay could be used.
Hmmm….
The only problem with that thought is when I put the
microsoft uncrompress(exported moive) output up in the
source window, it looks just like the HDLink original file….It is probably something strange with my machine and
yes I have filed a ticket, awaiting response. Just
posting here to keep you informed….Thanks again for the comments.
