    I am interested in this..

I realise I can take photos, but I want to mix my stop motion with sped up film effects, and dont want to take so many photos with camera… I was trying to connect my HMC150 to my mac to use it with framebyframe, but did not work out how to make that work. (And I have no problem with an old dv camera0

The camera kept telling me to disconnect the USB.

Thank you; this is helpful advice.

I guess the main question was whether the file sizes would be smaller.

The way I understand it, Neoscene turns the files into .mov, while FCP into prores. Is there a difference?

(All this tech is a little overwhelming! At least I already have something that is working for me, just not sure whether I am doing it the most efficient way, or with sufficient quality.

I am really not sure what I should be doing to log and transfer in FCP 7 – and help would be much appreciated.

As it is, I can log and transfer, and the media appears. But I have no idea what settings I should be using.

I am obviously getting the media by plugging my SDHC card into the mac.

But what should my audio/video settings be?

I can’t work out what I should put as capture preset.

I am also struggling over this decision right now…

I plan to be filming in Haiti, and am attracted to the small size of the JVC. But it seems the HMC150 is generally seen as a better quality choice.

I also plan to but a MacBook Pro and FCP… so the JVC would work better with that. FCP 7 still does not seem to deal with AVCHD natively; but people are learning to live with it.
