    Greetings everyone,
I just purchased an HMC150 and did some shooting. I’m using a final cut on a macbook pro to ‘transfer’ the footage via the log and capture window. The problem is that my footage looks beautiful in the log and capture window, but when final cut turns it into a clip and a view it in final cut or quicktime, the footage looks darker, slightly blurred, and has much more noticeable digital junk/noise/blockiness. I am using apple prores as the compressor, not intermediate.

Is this just a fact of life for this camera, due to it shooting in one codec and needing to be transferred to another in order to edit with final cut? If so, I may exchange the camera, though I really like it other than this problem. Any thoughts?

    Thanks!
    Vanessa

    Vanessa,
After transferring to an HQ PRO RES Sequence did you render it out?

My footage looks great once it is rendered.

Make sure you have the High Quality presentation checked in QT Player. Google for it, if you don’t know what I’m talking about. Best place to gauge quality of footage is playing out to a broadcast monitor, not on your desktop.

I am really not sure what I should be doing to log and transfer in FCP 7 – and help would be much appreciated.

As it is, I can log and transfer, and the media appears. But I have no idea what settings I should be using.

I am obviously getting the media by plugging my SDHC card into the mac.

But what should my audio/video settings be?

I can’t work out what I should put as capture preset.

Capture preset should be Pro Res 422

Sequence preset should be Pro Res 422

    Hi Vanessa,
I’m having the exact same issue. Were you able to resolve it?
