First, I’d recommend getting support from the folks who sold you the template.
But what it the extension? If it’s .moti or .motr or .moef, then it’s designed specifically to be published for use in Final Cut Pro X. If it’s .motn, it may have been published as a generator for FCP X, but you can always choose Save As instead of publishing it and saving it as a project wherever you like.

Your computer is underpowered for what you are trying to do. One small thing I can recommend is to NOT use mp3’s for your audio – aiff’s would be better and less taxing on your system.

Definitely should work in 2D. Try trashing your preferences.

Even better – drag that shape onto the copied video layer and wait a beat – you’ll get a menu that will allow you to convert the shape into a Mask!

The reverse works as well – if you drew a mask and wanted a shape, just drag the mask to a group.

You are using the shape tool instead of the masking tool.

Sure any Shape layer can have a paint stroke applied to it.

I’m saying the color corrections are applied after effects, so they will impact any applied effects.

Paul, make the text a Title effect rather than an -um- effect effect. That way it will be above the clip you are color correcting and therefore independent of the correction.

So I assume you have trashed your preferences files – since you are on Motion 5, it’s a snap to simply trash the app and reinstall from the App store. If it’s been every version, and always on the same hardware, then I’d suspect something in the hardware – but the problem sure sounds like a file corruption issue.
