  • Text Layer Mask affected by Color Correction …

    Thanks for the help.

I have a text prompt that pops up in a published effect applied to a FCPX clip controlled by a checkbox widget. My problem is when I apply color correction to the clip – the text prompt is affected by the correction. For example if I test this with a heavy dose of green – the text turns green. It should remain solid gray.

The text layer resides in a Group by itself. I cloned the layer and added mask to it. I used the text layer as the Mask Source. Maybe I screwed something up in the Mask options? Regardless – I can’t figure out how to keep the text on top of the video and have it unaffected by color correction/saturation/exposure adjustments.

    Thanks again.

Paul, make the text a Title effect rather than an -um- effect effect. That way it will be above the clip you are color correcting and therefore independent of the correction.

    Mark,

Thanks – but that’s not what I’m trying to do. The display of the text – based on the check box setting is wrapped into an Effect. Are you saying that I can’t have the text prompt be independent of the video as it would be in a Title?

    Thanks again.

I’m saying the color corrections are applied after effects, so they will impact any applied effects.
