Yes it should work from the Finder. I’d try signing in as a different user account.

Apple certainly looks at what is going on in the forums, but to be sure, you can always send feedback directly:

Instead of dragging to the Layers list, try double-clicking the Motion project in the File Browser.

I would trash the app and redownload from the app store. If that doesn’t work, try logging in as a different user to see if it’s related to the user account.

I certainly wouldn’t use Apple Intermediate or Animation codecs, there is no reason for that at all. The fact is that Motion’s RAM preview playback just doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to (IMHO of course). It *should* play in real time after rendering but often it just doesn’t.

It doesn’t work that way. You have to choose. Either Build In/Out (one or both) or Loop. Can’t have a loop marker together with Build In or Out.

If you add a camera and switch to 3D, you can reposition your character by moving the camera.

Try changing the Alpha interpretation in FCP 7. Command-9 or find the column in the Browser.

December 31, 2012 at 6:04 am in reply to: Upgrading to Motion 5 but keeping FCP 7 – does this work?!Correct, Motion 5 won’t round-trip with FCP 7. In fact, it won’t roundtrip with FCP X either – it just doesn’t work that way anymore – although in many respects, Motion 5 is much more integrated with FCP X than 4 was with 7, because it’s used to create all the titles, transitions, effects, and generators in FCP X. It’s also a complete rewrite and 64bit – but if you are using FCP 7, I’d stick with M4. Btw, I highly recommend FCP X.
