I misunderstood the question – I thought he wanted to control something by the length of a text string – by how many characters are in a text layer. That I don’t believe is possible.

Did you add your parameters to the widget (the slider) and then set the states for each snapshot of the slider (the balls at the ends and any other you add). If you don’t set your snapshot states, then dragging the slider won’t do anything.

It’s designed to use keyframes, behaviors, or a combination of both, depending on what you are trying to accomplish. The keyframes work in similar fashion to After Effects in the Keyframe Editor. You can copy/paste, change interpolation, shift in time, etc. You can also turn on keyframe “bundles” in the Timeline, which is great for moving groups of keyframes together. For some animation tasks, behaviors are faster and easier than keyframes.

May 8, 2013 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Is it possible to publish the stabalizer effect back into FCPXNo, you can’t publish a Motion effect that stabilizes. Why not locate that clip in the event, set a range for the shaky part, and stabilize it there? It should pass through to your multicam edit automatically.
