So to make a comparison to language, if a profile shot is the equivalent of 3rd person and straight down the lens is first person, eye line is on this slider control that is movable in coarse or fine degrees between 3rd person and first person . When you have it right for the context of your interview it’s really right and there are lots of degrees of not quite right to completely wrong.

Seven and Fight Club we around the peak of the photochemical bleach bypass look . This look was a combination of high contrast, desaturated colors with some blown highlights .

Magic Bullet likely has a preset tht gets you right there or you can roll your own, it’s not that hard with a visual reference at hand.

I had to figure this out for myself today and here is how I did it:

1) Find my video clip and trim to appropriate length .

2) New project with Dimensions of 640×640

3) drop clip in new project , in the inspector go to video- spatial conform, choose fill

4) In the viewer – select 50% view, then transform and position 1920-1080 video for desired crop by 640×640 window

5 Add graphics & Share. This could not be easier….

There is a microphone that locally is known as the “NYC microphone”. Its a Sanken CS3. For recording audio on busy streets with trucks, buses, you name it, the CS3 rules. Get your sound guy to use one of these pics properly and you won;t have to sweat much in post.

Both the Cache files and the media files are outside the library which is what I want. I might have consolidated ‘in’ by mistake though I thought I was consolidating in the other direction. I wish there was something like a flight at a recorder for FCPX in situations like this so I could go back over the keystrokes and choices i made and learn something from my errors.

It all seems to be patched up just fine now after a comb through the clips to find the random ones that were stored inside the library and relink to external media.

I do like the way the Library cleans itself up after re linking clips to external media. I thought there would be a extra step to actually go thru the library and delete the clips that had wound up in the library by accident but once I relinked, the media clips inside the library disappeared. Boom.

Its funny. I thought I went that route- consolidating files out of the library to my media drive but received the opposite effect where the library ballooned. It could have been a mousing and clicking error since I’m a little green here.

In any case, since I relinked files to my media drive the library has been reduced to 3% of its former size as if by magic . Now if I can get dropbox to sync across all my computers, life will be better.

OK Maybe my last question:

I’ve combed through my library and re linked all files back to media on my external media drive, with the goal of keeping the library which is stored on a dropbox folder as slim as possible . Done.

Now I want to go into the library folder and delete actual media that is in the library causing bloating of the library folder on dropbox.

Do I – quit FCPX open the finder go thru the library folder manually deleting each instance of actual media files I find in the library and then empty trash, OR is there some way cooler way to do from inside fcpx..?

Seems like some files that exist on my external media drive got sucked into the library which lives in drop box and caused the sudden bloating. I can find the offending files and re-link pointing to the external media and I believe that will solve the bloating library problem. After I do this I can ditch the dupe files in the library ….
