  • I don’t do “reels” anymore… just URLs.

Copycats? Let ’em try. If they’re half as good this, I’ll hire ’em.

  • F*@k’n awesome!

Not off topic at all! This should be required viewing for anyone looking to put together a reel.

    THanks for the link.

    Todd,

If it’s a reasonable amount, you should “buy” it! It will look great in the lobby, and any of your
clients with a sense of humor will appreciate it. Definitely worth the cost.

Yes. We use it everyday to harness 50+ computers.

When you say “render out green screen” what program do you mean? FCP? AE? what?

Some can take advantage of distributed rendering, some can’t. You need to know if the program
you’re using will enable distributed rendering. Read the manual.

Your “friend” has totally F*@k’d your workflow. He must have come from an Avid background
where renaming clips is NOT a problem. As you’ve noticed, renaming clips in FCP can be a huge
problem… especially in a shared storage or “tag team” workflow.

Bottom line. Don’t do that if you want to make it home for dinner.

Did you not discuss mundane details like project organization BEFORE you started?

Which version of FCP 6? This “reconnect” bug was a problem in earlier versions, but I believe it’s fixed now. If you can (Not in the middle of a project), upgrade to the current version. It should work now.

    Patrick,

Sorry, no links. We haven’t done “live” in awhile.

[Shane Ross] “FCP cannot take an EDL of a locked cut, with small chunks of video, and reach inside a full length clip and only read what it needs.”

Well, that’s changing a bit. Look at the thread down below labeled “h.264 fast turnaround”.

    https://www.videotoolshed.com/?page=products&pID=35

I still think it’s less than optimal to work cross platform, but there are some improvements in the XDCAM workflow that take this from ridiculous to just plain difficult.

    Bouke,

    You’ve been busy! Nice demo.

Why are you going cross platform?

Can you not stay with either an all Avid or all FCP workflow? You’re just
asking for trouble going down this path.
