Thomas, I’ve been using the 64-bit version (on a 64 bit machine). I downloaded the 32 bit version of 5DtoRGB – I didn’t know it was DNxHD-specific, when just having the 64 version.

I was confused about your response regarding DPX thinking it was a codec to download – but understand it now to be “uncompressed” in the settings.

I’m doing some tests with the 32 bit version.

Thomas, thanks for the reply. I don’t have permission to send the footage. I only shot it.

I did a search on the DPX codec and couldn’t find it. Do you know a download link? I’m also going to try the lighter ProRes settings/LT, etc. and see if the files aren’t too big, as regular ProRes is.

    PC/Vegas Pro 12/Windows 7/64-bit.

I was going to sell it as a fixed price on a forum, and still may…
Now you have me thinking, maybe I’ll try ebay and start near/under the price you calculated and see if people bid on it.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks, John..

I contacted Sony as you suggested. They said I can sell the license and the buyer can upgrade to a new Pro version.

So, I’m back to wondering what price I should ask for…

I knew there was something different, but couldn’t recall the details. Thanks.

That being said, if someone were to purchase my license and then upgrade to Pro 10 (or 9,11) – would this entitle them to a full version?
Or are there also lite versions of the newer (9,10) that they could only upgrade to?

Would they even be entitled to upgrade at all/can only use as Pro 8?

November 12, 2009 at 3:53 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas pro 8.0a dont accept .m2ts file

    Hello forum,

I am having the same exact problem.

I have the updated version of Sony Vegas Pro; “8c” using a quad core pc with 3 gig RAM, 32-bit Vista OS.

I am working with .mts files from a Canon HF11 camcorder. I have had no issue, up to this point, working with smaller files being placed on the time line in Vegas, edited with fx added.

I recently recorded a continuous 70 minute event, which the camcorder broke up into 5 separate files.
Importing and placing these files next to each other on the Vegas time line caused hiccups at the changes in file points. I then used the software that came with the camcorder, Pixela Image Mixer 3, to join the files into one, large .mts file.

Once I tried to import this large .mts file, Vegas would either crash or, once imported, would crash after trying to do anything on the time line.
I had shot this event for someone and ended up giving them the raw footage joined by Pixela without being able to add video fx or tweak the audio in Vegas.

Trying to remedy the situation, I have, so far:
    -Disabled firewall, anti-virus
-Turned off as many background programs as possible
-Turned off other background activity in Vista
-Tried both Vegas options: “max render threads” = 1 and 4

I am actually in the process of getting rid of the Canon HF11 to get a tape-based Canon HV30 miniDv camcorder, with the understanding that the HDV codec has less issues in Vegas.

I have a few days to change my mind about selling it and, knowing you guys at Creative Cow are an authority on Vegas, wanted to see if someone has a solution and/or would think I should stay with AVCHD, even for recording long events.

    Thank You!
    –Mark
