[walter biscardi] “If the Creative COW is using legal avenues, you would not see Ron or Kathlyn make any comment about it in any Cow forum.”

Yes, this is exactly what I’ve been thinking. Their silence does not mean that they aren’t doing something about this matter.

I am glad to read Ron’s reply, even if it isn’t saying anything more than that the COW has hired lawyers to pursue this matter. I would have, especially as it’s pretty clear that Plastercity Digital has used the COW over the years. Just search on the word Plastercity.

I tend to agree with Walter on this one. I work with a company that works with Plastercity Digital, the company changing its name to Blue Cow Creative.

When I first saw the new name and the website redesign, I immediately thought of the confusion between the companies.

The COW has always sold itself on the basis of the COW metaphor and has invested a lot of time and effort into it.

In closing, I would agree with Timothy Allen that a company that calls itself creative usually isn’t. A company that would use creative and cow in their new name, when there is already a well known company by that name, would have to be a copy at best.

  • [Shane Ross] “in my experience producers and directors are always drawn to bigger names like a Matchframe, Level3, Plastercity Digital, etc.”

I was at Plastercity Digital’s website the other day and noticed that they have changed the name of their company to Blue Cow Creative. I was quite startled when I saw it. Blue Cow Creative?

I am surprised that the COW hasn’t gone after them. This is so close I can’t believe that Plastercity’s lawyers would recommend a move like this with Creative COW so well known in this industry.

Yes, they are limited by AE’s 2.5d nature.

There are some ways to expand on this, such as Boomer Labs’ plug-in for 3ds Max, which is at https://www.boomerlabs.com/cart/home.php?cat=3

Also, there is Cinema 4D from Maxon which has a tight integration with After Effects.

Angie Taylor’s book is very good also. People forget this one and it really is a great book, especially if you wish to learn technique.

20 minutes into this thing and I was still only 3/4s of the way through it.

    Not cool guys.

I have yet to see any DV articles on AE that are as good as Bill O’Neil’s 3D world tutorial, Mark Val’s 3D Toon on Paper, or many of the AE tutorial podcasts by Aharon Rabinowitz.

But that is just my opinion.
