I’m aware of that info BUT my problem is mixing 1080p23.98 with 720p23.98 Varicam (actually 59.94). We are editing at 23.98 in our sequences but the only way for the Kona 3 to monitor is to set it to 720p59.94. So…. when I go to capture 1080p23.98 to my project, I get an error message that says I can’t mix timebases in my project. Now, my Sony machine will play this footage as 23.98 pull-down at 29.97, but I still get the error message. Have you done this?
This Panasonic stuff is still new to me.

You’re right…. You can’t cross-convert 720p23.93 Varicam from 1080p24 HDCAM. I’ve tried it. Compressor is the only option.

720p23.98 Varicam is actually 720p59.94 video with a pulldown attached. SO…. 1080p24 will not convert to 720p23.98 Varicam thru the Kona 3. Kona 2 won’t cross-convert at all, so you out of luck from the beginning if you have this one.
Supposedly, AJA says you can do this with FCP but they still haven’t told me how to do this. I know you can convert each clip thru Compressor, but that is very tedious.

So I assume that that you are capturing Uncompressed 8-bit, am I correct? How many drives are in your RAID? 2, 4, or 6?
If there are only two drives, that may be your problem. SCSI 320, depending on its age, can’t always handle HD video with only two drives. That’s why you are seeing so many RAIDs being built with SATA II drives in them.

What is your sequence settings? What about your drive array? SCSI or SATA? How space is left on RAID?
Are you using on of the new Mac Pros? If so, are you using more than 2 gig of RAM?

Don’t get me wrong, Walter. I’m not knocking AJA, just frustrated that this issue has not been resolved. And I imagine that AJA feels the same as you, therefore, its a low priority fix.

I’m on this boat, too! Funny how AJA is working with us on new additions but they can’t seem to get rid of an old issue that bugs us really bad. So far, (knock on wood) I haven’t had it bite me in the butt on output.

What weed have you been smokin’? Those have been around for a while and allowed us to use the ATTO cards with our MacPros BUT they are not the corrected drivers to allow more than 2.5 gig of RAM.
