No that’s not it, because light is going through the batsign, I want it to go around the logo.

For example, the sun shines through the leaves on a tree and the mist makes rays of light around the leaf, not through the leaf

It is not a text layer, it is a 3d object that moves.
It it is applied to that object, the shine comes from the object – not around it.

how do I make the shine go around the 3d object?

Out of interest, how does After Effects know to let it draw itself out, and not fade it all in?
