    Eddie,

Thanks for answering such a “newbie” question. I’m headed over to Barnes and Nobel to p/u a “Dummies Book”.

    I’ll give it a shot.

    Douglas,

Thanks for your help. I will try your suggestions tomorrow.

Are there any 3rd party codecs used for rendering that do any better
    than what is in Vegas?

    Hello Douglas,

Thanks for your reply. I’ll see if I can answer your questions.

The first format I wanted to render to was both Quicktime and an .AVI file so I could post them up on my site for some people to view. When I view both of them the images looked “stretched”.

The second format will be for exporting to make a final DVD of the short film I’m shooting. It will not be Blue Ray. Don’t have a B.R. burner yet.

When working in Vegas Pro 8.0c the image looks perfectly normal. Wonderful resolution.

As far as “mechanical device” for playback, I’m not sure what you mean. I have Dual Samsung 25.5 HD monitors at 1920×1280 resolution.

    Dave,

    I own QT Pro.

I’ll check with some PC AE users to see about codecs.

    Thanks.

    Dave,

So are you saying I need to get a Quicktime animation codec for Windows? Or a Lossless AVI?

I’m not quite sure what codec my PC needs to convert the files so they would work in AE.

    Thanks.

    Dave,

Thanks for your timely reply. I will disable all OpenGL in AE as you suggested.

For the second part, what codec(s) do you recommend and where can I get them?

Again, my thanks for your help.

    Best.

  • Douglas,

One last question if you don’t mind. Does Vegas have the necessary
codec to import the data from the CF card? I would assume it does considering it’s coming from a Sony camera. Just wanted to make sure
I don’t need to get a third party codec or whatever.

    Thanks again.

  • Thanks Douglas,

No offense taken. I appreciate you taking time to help me out.
I guess I’ll p/u a multi version reader so I covered size wise.

    Best.
