Thank you for this post. The Richard Harrington training video he produced for Red Giant sets a high standard in connecting users with new software. I was totally lost with PluralEyes 3 until discovering the Red Giant tutorials. They make a difference. Harrington will show you the two different methods of syncing audio, in his usual professional style. There are demonstrations for Adobe and Apple NLEs.
I still have questions about PluralEyes 3, and this is one of the few forums to find answers.

  • I have become fond of Command + G. This opens a small dialog to type in a new gain level which can be plus or minus dB. First select an audio clip in the timeline.

Besides Apple Compressor Flip4Mac enables QuickTime 7 to encode wmv movies. Drop a ProRes movie onto QT7 and select File / Export / wmv. Works great!

  • Greg,

Premiere Capture is working fine for me, and I have a choice of codecs. When I open the capture panel, it lets me choose the Matrox Recorder as the capture format (after clicking capture settings). Then press the ‘configure’ button where you can choose a video format and configure a codec from the compression settings dialog. The list of codecs is long, and includes all the ProRes, and other QuickTime codecs.
I see you use the Kona 3 card, so the choices may be different. Nonetheless, Premiere capture is working fine, particularly capturing DVCam tapes from a DSR 50 deck (component).

  • Better yet Adobe Production Suite CS6 has Prelude which copies BPAV files to multiple drives with file checking. Been using this workflow without any problems. If you edit in Premiere this is a powerful bonus considering it’s logging features which rival CatDV.

  • Just upgraded to OS X Lion 10.7.4 and Premiere Pro 6.0.1 in the same day. The real-time playback is unbelievable!! I loaded up a timeline with native XDCam EX 720p footage, several layers of graphic titling, a couple Boris filters, and some Boris RED transitions. I’ve never seen anything like this on my system.
Thanks Adobe for bumping up the speed limit, and making the magic happen.

    Meanwhile, back on topic…
A Best Buy geek in Oregon told me to be sure an drop in next month and look at the new Mac Pros. Consider the source. Since Sir Jon is now the keeper of Apple’s secrets, I told the geek I will believe it when I see it.
