    Chris was spot on with using position, scale rotation (rather than subspace warp). This method works great with steadicam shots.

    Thanks so much for the response.

    While researching codecs I also downloaded DNxHD. What do you think of that as a stepping stone codec before ProRes?

    I’ll give CineForm a try as well.

    How noticeable do you think it is to just drop frames from 60p to 24p in PPro? I definitely notice that it isn’t 24p, but it doesn’t look terribly bad, especially with frame blending off and after export. Do you think simply dropping frames looks okay or do you think it is noticeably bad?

    Hello Angelo,

    Today, while working on a project using this workflow, I ran into a strange situation. I noticed that several of the 60p clips that I dropped straight into the 24p timeline developed pixelation issues. When stopped, a frame on the image looked completely clear and sharp, but when playing it developed blocky, pixelated attributes. The problem remained after editing and showed up in the final h.264 24p export.

    I set the sequence to 720p at 24fps, because more than half of the footage was interpolated from 60p to 24p for slow motion purposes. So the project was a mix of interpolated 24p slow mo and 60p clips in the same sequence. It appeared that most, if not all, of the un-interpolated clips had some sort of degradation.

    Have you experienced this? What do you chalk it up to? Does this kind of degradation have anything to do with the fact that the 60p clips lose frames when dropped in the 24p sequence?

    The strangest part is that a test I performed seemed to succeed as a workaround. I created a new 60p sequence and dropped the edited timeline from my 24p sequence into it. I then exported the 60p sequence at 24p h264 – the exact same export setting I used for the previous, problematic sequence. This time the export looked great, no pixelation throughout. Both the slo-mo and regular speed footage looks good.

    Problem solved by I’m really confused.
