You are not going to want to try and blend projectors being off axis that much. Another thing to consider is if this is front projection and anyone stands in front of it, they will be getting the image projected on them which does not work very well. The top view of your sketch is incorrect; typically the projectors are centered in the two regions of the wide screen they are projecting on to.

You might try and download the Encore configuration software and play around with the screen dimensions and projector resolutions.

A single or double stacked 16:9 projector is probably going to be your best bet.

Makes sense to me since those products were designed to work with PPC based Macs; not that they do not work wonderfully on Intel ones, just that PPC G5s were the powerhouse machines when those were introduced.

I am still debating on whether to upgrade two of our MacPros with Snow Leopard for testing. I think I’ll probably wait for the dust to settle first.

And if you can jam sync the time code on the the two KiPros it will make your editing life that much easier as you can select each clip and turn them into a multiclip based on timecode and then watch and do the edit pretty damn fast.

I do love that multiclip option. 😀

Not sure why you would want to dump back to tape though; it seems to me that it would be faster to copy the files to an external or internal RAID system connected to the host editing machine.

We plan on using them to basically eliminate “capture”. Just plug the KiPro drives to the edit machine and go.

Which I can’t really blame Sony for since this device pretty much makes all of their tape based machines a colossal waste of money.

My workflow is per say a actual “shoot”, but rather a corporate meeting type scenario with full blown studio kit style cams; so everything would be off the CCUs or routed.

Both have answered my questions though; it sounds like you will be able to sync them just like VTRs, so all is good.

I actually thrilled by the announcement of this product. Not only will it save a shit load of time by not having to digitize video, it will make the entire workflow from camera to edit much easier.

I can honestly tell you that we’ve spent well over 10 grand in DVCAM tapes per year, so this box is kind of a no brainer the way I look at it; not to mention it supports NTSC to 1080 recording; and it costs less than the lowest end DVCAM deck I would even consider for purchase, which is a 1500a.

And the firewire thing is no big deal, just buy a $100 PCIe or Express34 Firewire card and then you’ll be all set running the IoHD and multiple Ki Pro drive modules.

I’m looking forward to this; this is going to save us money, time and headaches. The only question I have is whether or not one of these can act as a timecode master to slave other multiple units to.

AJA once again is releasing a kick ass product!

    From the Comprehensive Site:

“The unit has three additional output modes: 480p, 720p and 1080i in component format with tri-level sync.”

You want the 1080i output — connect that analog to the Kona via RGB cable; the Tri-Level sync output can also be hooked to the Kona’s genlock input for additional stability.

From the Kona control panel you want analog input, component – probably Beta Levels and you can set the genlock to the tri-level input instead of free-run.

They don’t say what the frame rate is, but you can probably get that from whatever the genlock input says the tri-level sync is.

What model is the scan converter. Many of them have settings for either RGB or YUV output.

A Mic straight into the IO does not work since the input is line level and not mic level. Your Mic may also need 48v Phantom power which the IO will never supply.

Back to the topic; I am guessing there is something finicky with the IO driver install on the MacPro. I’d call tech support as suggested — they are really good.
